Urban Safety Zones Initiative

London Borough of Harrow  

TMS completed four route studies in the London Borough of Harrow as part of the Urban Safety Zones Initiative project.  The routes consisted of the following locations:

  • Church Road, The Broadway and London Road, Stanmore
  • Uxbridge Road, Hatch End
  • Station Road, Imperial Drive and Alexandra Avenue
  • Marsh Lane and Honeypot Lane to Queensbury Circle

The primary objective of the study was to identify factors that were contributing to crash occurrence and to recommend remedial measures that could potentially alleviate the problems.  

Our involvement

The deliverable for this assignment was a brief report containing the following scope of work:

  • Identifying the casualty problems, causation factors and possible treatment measures
  • Preliminary drawings of feasible options
  • Cost Estimates and casualty saving predictions with severity and cost benefit analysis
  • A brief assessment of the impact of the proposed schemes on local infrastructure, environment and all classes of road users

The second objective of the study was to carry out consultation with key stakeholders and residents to identify preferred schemes and to prepare detailed designs for schemes approved by Committee.
