Designing for Non-Motorised Road Users

Overview:

A one day course to help Engineers and Technicians designing schemes to better understand some of the issues affecting vulnerable non-motorised road users (pedestrians, cyclists, equestrians and people with physical disability or other impairments). The course includes a workshop to give delegates practical experience in carrying out a NMU audit in accordance with Highways England standard HD 42/05.

Aims and Objectives:

  • To introduce the concept of non-motorised road user audits (NMUs)
  • To examine the needs of the vulnerable road users
  • To practice carrying out a NMU audit
