Risk Assessment for Road Safety Practitioners

Overview

Road Safety Practitioners are increasingly having to carry out Risk Assessments in their daily work.  These assessments can be generic within an activity, for example cycle training, or specific to a location, for example a walking bus route.  This course examines how to spot hazards, how to identify who is at risk and how to evaluate levels of risk.  The importance of documentation and Risk Assessment policy is also described.

Aims and Objectives

  • To encourage delegates to use risk assessment techniques within road safety
  • To develop an understanding of how risk assessments can encourage road safety activity to take place within a controlled environment
  • To facilitate workshop activity and discussion regarding which techniques are most appropriate to use in specific circumstances

  • Case Studies and workshop inc. the use of risk assessment by a local authority, and 
    undertake a risk assessment of a school transport appeal
  • Site visit to undertake a risk assessment of a school walking route
  • Report writing

Certification

Delegates completing this course will receive a CPD certificate of attendance, recognised by both the IHE and CIHT
