Grant Dumbleton

Road Safety Trainer

I joined TMS in June 2025 as a Road Safety Trainer, having completed 30 years’ service with Warwickshire and Hampshire police. My previous roles included time on force traffic and Central Motorway Policing Group as a police advanced driver, periods with the Public Order and House entry team. I was a Forensic Collision Investigator for 12 years with Warwickshire Police, during which my main role was to attend the scene of life threatening or fatal road traffic collisions and industrial accidents, I would investigate and reconstruct the incidents, then compile reports and present evidence at Coroner Inquests and Crown Court trials as an expert witness.

For my last 3 years with Warwickshire Police I was a Traffic Management Advisor in the Road Safety Unit, in this role, I attended post collision road safety audits, early planning stages of large scale new road schemes, local and parish council meetings about road, speed alterations, safety improvements and speed enforcement and I was an invited party to numerous RSA3’s. As part of this role I attended national and regional meetings taking a multi-agency approach alongside National Highways, HS2 and other government bodies providing me with a greater insight to the national picture and trends.

I have numerous qualifications in the field including a UCPD in Forensic Collision Investigation (FCI) from DeMonfort University and City & Guild qualifications in FCI. I hold City & Guild qualifications in Vehicle Inspection, Analogue and Digital tachograph analysis, including Forensic Calibration and digital route trace. I hold IMI qualifications in Hybrid Electric vehicle operation and maintenance. In addition to these I hold further qualifications related to speed enforcement and collision investigation.

In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors and use my dog as an excuse to get out into nature and bird watch, I feel this really helps to manage that work life balance. I enjoy watching all sports! I have coached for local and county Rugby Girls teams. I enjoyed both the physical and mentoring aspects of the role, watching the team grow and develop and being like a proud parent when you see them achieve their dreams going on to play for regional and national teams. Rugby is also a big part of family life, we follow Leicester Tigers, England men and the Red Roses, and attend as many games as we can.
