Course Overview
A variation of our Highway Inspectors Training course, adapted for delivery in Scotland. The four-day modular training course incorporates all the changes in the published code of practice, Well-managed Highway Infrastructure (2016), and the Highway Inspector Competence Framework (2019). The course is approved by the IHE Inspectors Board, as well as having the accreditation of LANTRA Awards. The course is intended for both newly-appointed and experienced local authority safety inspectors within Scotland. It provides the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfil the role of road safety inspector and provides an opportunity for delegates to demonstrate their competency and achieve a nationally recognised qualification.
The four-day course follows the IHE approved syllabus and is delivered in seven distinct taught modules, each concluded by a short, written assessment. In addition, delegates’ ability to identify, evaluate and report highway defects will be assessed in a practical scenario.
Aims and Objectives
This course is designed to fulfil the initial training requirements of local authority road inspectors within Scotland and to satisfy the requirements of the IHE certification scheme, which will ultimately allow successful delegates to be entered on the national Register of Highway Inspectors.
Certification
Delegates completing this course and passing all the assessments will receive a Certificate of Competence and Skills Identity Card (optional), accredited by LANTRA Awards. Successful completion of the course will allow delegates to apply to the IHE national Highway Inspectors Register.
